Ian Gooch Melbourne, Australia Death, Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Ian Gooch, a cherished life member of the Eastern Ranges and a remarkable individual whose dedication touched countless lives. Ian’s contribution to the club went far beyond the playing field. As the long-serving property steward, he quietly ensured the smooth running of the club, handling the many behind-the-scenes tasks that are essential but often unnoticed—preparing meals, cleaning jumpers and boots, pumping footballs, timekeeping, and attending to every small detail with care and precision.

Alongside the steadfast support of his beloved wife, Faye, Ian devoted himself selflessly to the Eastern Ranges community. His tireless commitment, generosity, and kindness created an environment where young players could thrive, develop their skills, and feel valued. Many players, coaches, and volunteers were inspired by his quiet leadership and unwavering willingness to help wherever it was needed.

Ian’s warmth, humility, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was more than a club member—he was a mentor, a friend, and a pillar of the community. The legacy he leaves behind is reflected in the countless lives he influenced and the strong sense of community he fostered at the Eastern Ranges.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Faye, Paul, Jayne, and the extended Gooch family during this incredibly difficult time. The Eastern Ranges and the wider community share in your grief and honor Ian’s memory, grateful for the profound impact he had on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love, respect, and gratitude.
