It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Ray Flaneary, 39, of Bassett, Virginia, who departed this life on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Born on July 15, 1986, in Martinsville, Virginia, Douglas was the son of Douglas Fain and the late Laura Michelle Flaneary.
Douglas will be remembered as a dedicated professional, a loving father, and a cherished member of his family and community. He was employed at Stone Dynamics, where he faithfully served as a supervisor for six years. His strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike. A graduate of Patrick County High School, Douglas carried with him the values of perseverance, responsibility, and care throughout his life.
Above all, Douglas’s greatest pride and joy were his children. He loved his sons, Tyler and Mason, deeply, and his devotion to them was evident in all that he did. His presence, guidance, and unconditional love will forever remain in their hearts.
In addition to his father, Douglas is survived by his sons, Tyler Flaneary and Mason Flaneary; his sister, Courtney Thompson; his brothers, Austin Fain, Justin Fain, and Brandon Fain; his grandparents, Lynnette Williams and Raymond Earl Flaneary; and his uncle and best friend, Ray Flaneary. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Douglas’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. May they find comfort in cherished memories and the support of those around them.
